Vegetable patch

The vege patch has been under polythene for a number of years as we felt that it was better to focus on getting the structure of the garden right, before starting again with veg growing. The polythene prevents weeds growing and hopefully helps to kill off the couch grass.

This has recently been removed and the plan is to construct some edged beds – the wood is waiting in the orchard. I have already started growing some vegetable seedlings in the greenhouse. The space is quite small given the size of the garden, but we only want to grow crops we really enjoy and that are expensive to buy or hard to get at peak quality. So there will probably be very few potatoes or onions – more salad crops, beans and peas, sweetcorn and sunflowers.

More soon, once construction is complete.
